Leah Crowne

The Young American Dramatic Soprano Leah Crowne is credited as having the ample vocal power to sing Wagner, Verdi and Strauss while maintaining the warm, lyrical tone appropriate for Puccini and Mozart. A rising young artist, she is earning a reputation for her strong stage presence, lovely demeanor and shimmering tone.

Ms. Crowne's most recent engagements include the position of Emerging Singer with The Wagner Society of Washington DC, where she has coached the role of Turandot with Dramatic Soprano Jennifer Wilson and Conductors John Edward Niles and James Harp. This summer she will join Ms. Dolora Zajick at the institute for Dramatic Voices. Also in 2013, Ms. Crowne performed the roles of Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos) and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) with The Hub Opera Ensemble, and will return in 2014 to sing Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana.  In 2012, Leah sang selections of Leonora from La forza del Destino and Norma at Opera New Jersey in Princeton.  Other credits in 2012 include Puccini's Suor Angelica and Solos in Vivaldi's Gloria. Earlier credits include the heroines of Mozart: Contessa (Le Nozze di Figaro), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte)and Elettra (Idomeneo).  Ms. Crowne has also sung Chrysothemis (Elektra),Woglinde (Das Rheingoldand Sieglinde (selections from Die Walküre).  

Leah also enjoys singing sacred works, as well as concert and recital, and her repertoire includes Beethoven's Symphony no. 9 (upcoming, Fall 2013) Knoxville, Summer 1915, Strauss' Vier letzte Lieder, Beethoven's Choral Fantasy, Vivaldi's Gloria, Bach's Magnificat, 
Handel's Messiah, and Haydn's Saint Nicholas Mass.
